I did read the first issue of the new Captain Ms. Marvel, as I like to refer to it, I loved the art and the story was pretty great as well.

However, the book wasn't added to my pull list.

Sorry, Marvel, I'm just not down with the "Captain" part.

I don't think Carol Danver needs it and these types of replacement characters never work. As we've seen in the past, it splits the fan base, which isn't a good thing. Most likely, the same thing will happen to the new Nova.

So it's no surprise when writer Kelly Sue Deconnick lets it be known in an interview with CBR that the book seems to be month to month. Sales started off pretty well, but seemed to have come back down to regular "Ms. Marvel" numbers, which isn't really a surprise to readers of Cosmic Book News.

Our numbers were -- I think, I can't bring myself to look, so I have to sort of get a feel for this sort of thing from others -- better than expected out of the gate, but we've settled back down, now. I think it's normal attrition, but I also think every issue that gets solicited is a victory. Let's take this one step at a time.

The current storyline sees Danvers travelling through time, and with issue 6 on sale October 31st, we see the original makes an appearance.

Again.

For some reason or another - movie related? - Mar-vell keeps re-appearing in the Marvel Comics,  more so than ever it seems. Civil War saw Marvel bring back Cap only to reverse that and make him a Skrull. Mar-vell would appear in Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning's Guardians of the Galaxy and would rise once again in the pages of Dead Avengers during Chaos War, which Thor 2 may be borrowing from. Mar-vell's most recent appearance took place in the pages of Secret Avengers, with Captain America passing the "Captain Marvel" title on to Carol Danvers, which seems not to be as much a hit with the fans as Marvel had hoped.

Now Captain Marvel - albeit one from the past - will be featured in a Marvel comic once more.

Can we keep him this time?
