The numbers for comic sales for 2011 are out, and on top is - Marvel!
Yes, the mighty Marvel has taken 38% of the dollar market share with a unit share of 43%.
DC Comics, who saw the hugely successful reboot with the New 52, came in at 31.5% of the dollar share with 37% of the unit share.
However, as Bleeding Cool mentions (and where I grabbed the numbers), DC came out on top with 9 out of 10 for the top books of 2011.
And at #1 is the new Justice League #1 from Geoff Johns and Jim Lee.
Might be worth mentioning that Marvel has put out more comics than DC -- and at a greater price! Just how that effects the overall numbers, I'll leave that for you to figure out!
Here's the top ten:
1 JUSTICE LEAGUE #1 $3.99 DC
2 BATMAN #1 $2.99 DC
3 ACTION COMICS #1 $3.99 DC
4 JUSTICE LEAGUE #2 $3.99 DC
5 BATMAN #2 $2.99 DC
6 ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDER-MAN #160 $3.99 MAR
7 GREEN LANTERN #1 $2.99 DC
8 JUSTICE LEAGUE #3 $3.99 DC
9 ACTION COMICS #2 $3.99 DC
