It was previously reported that Neil Gaiman will be coming on board Guardians of the Galaxy #5 which springs out of Age of Ultron #10 with the introduction of his Image Comics character, Angela.

We now learn that the writer will be on Guardians of the Galaxy for at least an arc as Tom Brevoort gave an update on the project.

"Neil and Brian's Guardians arc starts I believe in issue #5, and springboards directly out of that scene in Age of Ultron," Brevoort told CBR. "It's a much bigger commitment and involvement from Neil than people might have thought. He's working with Brian on an entire arc of Guardians."

The artist most likely will be Sara Pichelli, Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man artist, as she starts with Guardians of the Galaxy #4, which was previously described for an arc as well.

The status of Steve McNiven returning on the book hasn't been addressed.

Gaiman comes on Guardians at a time when the new Marvel Cosmic seems to be caught at the cross-roads with only a few issues in.

In addition to the aforementioned possibility of McNiven leaving Guardians so soon, Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness have already left Nova after only two issues being published.

Gaimain's knowledge of science-fiction should be a most welcomed asset to the new Guardians of the Galaxy which seems to be less space-based and more Earth-centric.

The new James Gunn movie seems to be more based on the 2008 Guardians of the Galaxy comic book from Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning that included more heavier sci-fi themes as well.

Cosmic Book News will also throw this out there: In a recent interview we did with Gail Simone, she stated she is no longer DC Comics exclusive; is there any chance she might be taking on Angela for Marvel Comics?
