The numbers are in and Marvel's rebooted NINO Nova is selling less than the previous Richard Rider Nova - when DnA's was cancelled.

The May 2014 issue of NINO #17 comes in at 21, 652 (another drop in sales) and at a monthly rank of #111.

Abnett and Lanning's Nova #36 - when it was cancelled to make way for NINO - came in with 22,365 and #86 on the charts.

Actually, DnA's Nova #17 sold a whopping 38, 412 in April 2010 - and featured the return of Quasar. The issue also tied into Secret Invasion.

NINO has been having appearances in major Marvel events and tie-in issues, but the sales have not benefited.

Interestingly enough, Marvel Comics kept Richard Rider out of the big events, and the series still held on strong.

It's currently rumored that Richard Rider will appear in the Guardians of the Galaxy post-credit scene.

If that's the case, it's expected that Marvel Comics will do a "180" and return Richard Rider as Nova.

We get more good news in that the NINO New Warriors has fallen below 20K to 19,900 at only the fourth issue.

Guardians of the Galaxy has been holding steady at around 50K, but Tom Brevoort said it has everything to do with interest in the movie and nothing to do with Bendis. We can't help wonder if that is the case, then why did Brevoort and Marvel fire the previous creative team - especially considering that James Gunn and Kevin Feige have said DnA's Guardians are the inspiration for the movie.
