What's fun, action-packed and always has a sense of itself?

The answer, of course, is any  comic written by Peter David.

In relation to that is the absorbing intro of another member into this team in All-New X-Factor #5.

All the cover reveals over the past few months have spoiled things, but I try to pretend I don't know Doug and Warlock are on the way back.

Leave it to PAD to bring an even bigger surprise through Serval Corp this issue that completely blew me out of the water!

Oh, I expected the arrival of this particular villain ... but not this soon and not in this manner. Incredible.

Artist Carmine Di Giandomenico continues setting the stage along with colorist Lee Loughridge for this most consistent of X books. There is a lightness here few mutant-oriented mags achieve, and with PAD's character work on Lorna, Gambit, Pietro and now Danger, the art mirrors the script superbly.

I thought All-New X-Factor had lost its way last month. Leave it to Peter David to pick up the pieces and set everything on its ear, as he has so brilliantly for a variety of iterations of this unusual X-team.

Again: incredible.
