Review: Dial H #2

Last month, in the Second Wave which washed over the New 52-land, creators took an odd relic from the old DCU and, well, kept it odd and strange, much as Marvel writer Matt Fraction has done with Defenders.

This result last month was pure magic, and the momentum has kept going for this second issue of Dial H as Nelse utilizes the dial to metamorph into different superheroes, the crux of the concept.

In Dial H #2, writer China Meville and artist Mateus Santolouco have great fun with the concept and the heroes Nelse selects. Hopefully, both these heroes and the dials in #1 will return. It is amazing just how vivid and memorable Santolouco made these heroes – in just one panel!

I like what Meville is trying to do here, although both issues have been a little thin plotwise. Still, it has been a fun jaunt and how many of the Second Wave newcomers can claim that?

An oddball title or two is just what the New 52 needs, and Dial H #2 is certainly one of the more enjoyable reads of the week.
