It is official, the sequel to X-Men: First Class will be titled "Days Of Future Past."
Producer Bryan Singer confirmed the news to IGN earlier today.
"It's called 'Days of Future Past'," Singer told IGN. "It deals with aspects of that comic, but also some very new things. I just don't want to give any of it away."
In addition, Singer said filming will begin in a few months and he also seemed to hint that it's time to expand the X-Men movie universe as well as connect the movies in similar fashion to how Marvel Studios has done with their films.
The X-Men comics featured the "Days of Future Past" storyline in 1981 that ran from Uncanny X-Men #141-142 from legendary creators Chris Claremont and John Byrne. The story was partly set in an alternate universe where the X-Men failed to stop the assassination of Senator Kelly, which leads to mutant persecution in the future. The future self of Kitty Pryde travels back in time to warn the X-Men of the present day about the possible timeline.
