With Roberto Orci departing Star Trek 3, Paramount has named Fast & Furious' Justin Lin as the new director.
Deadline revealed Justin Lin to be the director of choice stating Lin was available as a result of his Jeremy Renner Bourne movie getting delayed due to Matt Damon returning to the franchise. Regarding whether or not Lin will do more Fast & Furious movies is unknown as it's said he was wanted for another, but now has Star Trek 3 on the table.
Roberto Orci recently left Star Trek 3, reportedly over creative differences, but remains on as a producer.
Orci also penned the story for Star Trek 3, but the status of that is unknown as well. Previous comments by Orci stated Star Trek 3 would be set in space and be more like the original series than the JJ Abrams movies.

With Peter Jackson coming to a close on The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings franchise, what's next for the director from New Zealand?
Well, it's not a Marvel movie or a superhero film.
While speaking with Moviefone, Jackson offers he doesn't like what's happening in Hollywood with all the superhero movies and hasn't even read a comic book.
I don't really like the Hollywood blockbuster bandwagon that exists right now. The industry and the advent of all the technology, has kind of lost its way. It's become very franchise driven and superhero driven. I've never read a comic book in my life so I'm immediately at a disadvantage and I have no interest in that. So now it's time for us to step back. We're heading towards something of that scale.
Jackson then continues with specific mention of no Marvel movies.
So, yes, I'm not going to head off and do a Marvel film. So if I don't do a Marvel film, I don't have any other choice -- I've got to go make a small New Zealand movie!
Jackson recently stated he hasn't ruled out returning to The Hobbit universe, perhaps in the form of prequels.
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is currently in theaters.

36-year-old British actor James Corden has some unkind words for Marvel and fans of The Avengers.
He thinks we all need to grow up.
"I don't think I'm talking myself out of a big Marvel franchise. I don't think it's coming anytime round the corner, but I do find that whole notion of it odd," Corden told Metro. "I just think, how much of your day are you acting? How much are you getting to act? Like, really, genuinely? If you're an actor and you're in those movies, what is your day's acting? I find it strange."
Corden is known for playing Craig Owens in Doctor Who and also stars in Into The Woods, out on December 25th, which is a musical about Cinderella.
"I spend almost no time thinking about The Avengers," Corden continued. "I literally could not spend less of my day thinking about it, and I'm constantly amazed by the volume of adults who do. Each to their own, and I wish them well, but I mean it's preposterous."
James Corden is also taking over for Craig Ferguson on "The Late Late Show" starting in March.

Recently, Michelle MacLaren, known for directing episodes of Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, was named as the director.
Now in a recent interview with Vulture, MacLaren says Wonder Woman isn't a sure thing.
The article notes that MacLaren can't say much as she has signed non-disclosure agreements, but the article does state MacLaren warns "that at the moment there is no script, no release date. There’s not even an official green light from the film’s releasing studio, Warner Bros."
The news of Wonder Woman not yet getting approved follows mention that six scripts are actually being worked on for the film.
A screenwriter recently took to his Twitter account stating he was told WB ordered six scripts and will choose the one they feel works best.
Gal Gadot is due to make her debut as Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman, but what does not having the Wonder Woman movie officially green lit say?
Does it say Warner Bros. is worried about the character not working? Does it say WB is worried about the character not being well received in Batman Vs. Superman?
If the scripts being worked on turn out not to be any good, does that mean no Wonder Woman?
Does it say the other DC movies aren't greenlit as well?

Speaking with THR, Carrey says, "I'd love to work in the new graphic-novel versions of the movie."
Carrey continues with mention he would like to work with Christopher Nolan, who is on board Batman Vs. Superman as a producer. And how about playing The Riddler again?

A batch of Suicide Squad rumors from a reported test group have landed online.
A user on Reddit is claiming to have been a part of a recent Warner Bros. focus test group for the Suicide Squad movie.
The user states they spent an hour at Warner Bros. with a few other people. It's noted some of the stuff they were shown was still a work in progress, while some of the other stuff is said to be set in stone.
According to the user, WB first quizzed the participants on their knowledge of the Suicide Squad, with a lot of questions on the New 52 version and Harley Quinn.
The user thinks from the general conversations that took place that Harley Quinn could be the main character in the movie.
The user stated director David Ayer joined the focus group and asked if they had watched Speed. Ayer said that the plot of Speed - a blend of action with a time sensitive conflict - is what inspired the plot of the Suicide Squad movie.
Ayer is said to have asked what they enjoyed more: A serious action movie like The Raid? Or a more comedic action approach like the Jump Street movies?
Toward the end of the focus group, the participants were broken into groups of three and given a one page summary of the plot, and they were asked to describe what they liked and didn't like.
Details they were given included Harley Quinn being needed to decipher a complex series of bombs planted throughout Gotham. It's said Harley Quinn is estranged from The Joker, and her knowledge is being used to figure out where The Joker has placed the bombs.
Deathstroke is Amanda Waller's personal bodyguard, and he is placed in the Squad to oversee that they do not deviant from the mission.
It's then said the plot becomes more complex as The Joker has a far more complex goal in mind.
The user also states they were given other plot ideas which ranged from Harley Quinn being a part of the Suicide Squad and betraying them for The Joker to another involving a conspiracy with Lex Luthor working with The Joker.
The user states his impressions are positive, and that before they left, Ayer showed off some concept art, which the user describes as "some were ok." In his opinion, Boomerang and Enchantress didn't look that great. He also offered that he really liked the design of Deathstroke, and that they gave Deathstroke a "realistic, but tech-geared look," and that it's probably the best design for Deathstroke he's ever seen.
The user finishes his write-up with: "Based on what I saw, I would love to go see this movie when it releases."
"Suicide Squad" stars: Jared Leto as The Joker; Will Smith as Deadshot, Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn; Jai Courtey as playing Boomerang; Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Viola Davis is rumored as Amanda Waller, and Jesse Eisenberg is rumored to follow his Batman vs. Superman debut as Lex Luthor.
"Suicide Squad" has an August 6, 2015 release.

The latest regarding the Sony hacker group, "The Guardians of the Peace," is that the FBI has concluded North Korea was behind the attack that came about as a result of Sony's satirical comedy, The Interview, which featured a death scene involving North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.
North Korea is denying the allegations and has requested a joint investigation into the matter with the United States.
The U.S., in turn, has requested the aid of China, as apparently China provides North Korean its internet service.
President Obama has also added his two cents stating Sony made the wrong decision to pull The Interview.
Sony responded by stating they're not sure what Obama is talking about as they did request the aid of the White House.
Now "The Guardians of Peace" has responded to the allegation that North Korea is behind the attack as they posted an anonymous message via Pastebin that included the following message and a link to the following video.
It's also recently become known that Sony has deleted the social networks for The Interview; however, it's been said they have not ruled out releasing the movie through video-on-demand or some sort of digital network.
Here is the message sent to various journalists:
The result of investigation by FBI is so excellent that you might have seen what we were doing with your own eyes.
We congratulate you success.

If there is one thing we definitely need more of, it's Marvel COSMIC action figures!
While the Guardians of the Galaxy movie provided us with a new batch, I'm still waiting for the Wendell Vaughn Quasar action figure set that comes with all the different Quasar costumes. Hint, hint, Hasbro!
Speaking of Guardians of the Galaxy, check out the custom action figures James Gunn received as a present from Seth Green.
It's the Ravagers!
Gunn posted the following image on Facebook adding:
Wow, I have the greatest friends ever. Last night at our annual Christmas get together Seth Green gave me a custom box of Ravagers he made himself! He noticed the world was sadly lacking Ravagers figures and had to step up. I'm blown away. Three of the four Ravagers were with us - Nick Holmes (Horuz's Mate), Dave Yarovesky (Goth Ravager), and Sean Gunn (Kraglin). Sadly, Michael Rooker (Yondu) wasn't there (but is fortunately back in town for Christmas).

With leaked Sony e-mails revealing Marvel Studios plan to replace Andrew Garfield with a new actor for Spider-Man, fans have now reacted and started a petition to keep Garfield as the Wall Crawler.
The "Don't replace Andrew Garfield as Spider Man" petition on Change.org currently has about 13,000 e-signatures, with its goal being 15,000.
The petition reads in part:
Alot of us have to grown to love and appreciate Andrew Garfield as the web head. He's a been a Spider Man fan his whole life and he's been handled incorrectly by the greedy idiots at Sony and he said himself that he would love to be in an Avengers movie and why not? He such a great Peter Parker and Spider Man and he derseves to be in one and alot of us would be very disappointed to see him kicked out and replaced after just two movies. So please sign this petition and spread it to your friends and on social media. The more the better
The news of Andrew Garfield's replacement as Spider-Man came with mention Marvel wants creative control over the character, though Sony would still be involved with marketing and distribution; it's been said Marvel wants Spider-Man in Captain America 3 and The Avengers Infinity War: Part I and II; a new costume will be created, and Sony has said they want standalone Spider-Man movies in 2017 and 2019.
To date, Sony or Marvel have yet to comment on Spider-Man returning to Marvel.

When Constantine returns following its mid-season break, it will be back at an all-new time.
The official NBC Constantine Twitter account revealed the series will now air Fridays at 8pm ET.
NBC decided against ordering a full season of Constantine, leading to the #SaveConstantine campaign.
A second season has yet to be announced, but it was previously said NBC is supporting the series, which now seems to be the case as obviously 8pm is a better time. Showrunner Daniel Cerone also added on Twitter that "NBC wants us to succeed!"
In addition, Angelica Celaya, who plays Zed, stated the Season 1 episodes that didn't get a chance to air will be worked into Season 2.
Constantine also saw ratings spike with the mid-season finale and the episode that featured Jim Corrigan and the Spectre, who is slated to return for the last episode of this season.
Constantine returns Friday, January 16th in its new time slot at 8pm ET.

Back in October, Jeremy Renner stated he would do Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. (and a solo Hawkeye movie), and now that may be a reality.
Clark Gregg took to his Facebook page to post a panel from the Marvel Comics featuring Agent Coulson and Hawkeye (see below).
Gregg didn't include any other information, but the over 20,000 fans that liked the image seem to think it's a big hint at Hawkeye appearing on an episode of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Renner previously said the following about an appearance:
I guess, again - those are questions that are tough to really answer, because it's above my pay grade, haha! It's not something I sit and think about. But I suppose if it was offered up, there's an outside chance it could happen. I haven't seen the show, so I don't know how it works, but I'm sure the folks at Marvel have ideas, and when they're strong enough, they'll bring 'em to me. But I love me some Clark Gregg, he's so great. We killed him and brought him back to life to do Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., he's so good!
Jaimie Alexander also recently teased a possible appearance as Sif.

The President Of Marvel Entertainment, Alan Fine, managed to read the script for the Amazing Spider-Man 2 and sent off an e-mail regarding this thoughts to Tom Cohen, Marvel Studios VP of Production, and producer on Amazing Spider-Man.
Now due to the Sony leaks, the e-mail dated September 17, 2012, has been made available online.
We see that Fine wasn't big on the script for Amazing Spider-Man 2 as he describes the movie as "too dark" and "way too depressing."
In addition, Fine has issues with the Amazing Spider-Man films being a total reboot as he mentions, "I think it is, potentially, very dangerous to undermine the significant events of the first Spider-Man trilogy."
Fine then goes on to compare the two franchises offering up a critique and says, "The new trilogy is, in essence, a prequel to the original trilogy. However, many events of this draft attempt to tell a completely different story."
Fine finishes the e-mail with mention the Amazing Spider-Man 2 is "way too long" and adds, "3 villains? Give me a break."

Following the controversial Milo Manara variant cover to Spider-Woman #1 that was released last month, Marvel has now updated the costume for the character.
It's unknown if the two are relelated, but it's the first costume change for Spider-Woman in almost 40 years.
USA Today reports the costume change (by artist Kris Anka) will first been seen in the Spider-Man Unlimited mobile game before hitting the comics in March.
As noted, instead of Spider-Woman wearing head-to-toe spandex, the costume now includes "a lot more leather, black pants, two-toned gloves and a jacket that goes from streetwear to spider-bedecked superhero gear in just a few snaps."
Marvel also recently changed the weight of Ms. Marvel Carol Danvers at the request of the character's writer.
